The Offspring getting close to finishing new album
"Working hard, it's just taking awhile to get everything right. Every new part you record, you're trying out different stuff to get just the right guitar, microphone, amp, whatever...I can tell you though, the couple songs we just finished sound like a friggin' freight train...trying to get finished recording in the next month or so we'll keep you posted."
The still-untitled new album is their follow-up to 2003's Splinter and is expected in 2007 release via Columbia Records. It will mark the very first proper studio album recorded with drummer Atom Willard, who is the replacement of former member Ron Welty.
The band plans to play Japan in August, appearing at the Summer Sonic Festival on the 11th and 12th alongside bands like Sum 41, Avenged Sevenfold, Bloc Party, Interpol, and of course Cyndi Lauper.
Rancid to return to the studio in January 2008
"A lot of people have been asking me about the new Rancid record. Here's what's planned right now. We are getting together this Fall to begin writing the new record with plans to record it Jan 08. Check out the Rancid myspace or rancidrancid.com for official updates and band info. Meanwhile pick up Tim Armstrongs solo record "A Poets Life"....it will give you what you need til then."
The legendary East Bay punk rockers have not released any new material since 2003's Indestructible. The band went on an unofficial hiatus in 2004 while all members were busy concentrating on their own project. They did, however, reunite last year to embark on a successful tour before their original drummer Brett Reed left the band and then Used drummer Steineckert replaced him.
Frontman Tim Armstrong recently issued his solo full length, A Poet’s Life.

TSOL status changed to "hiatus"
"T.S.O.L has not broken up, they are just on a long break and will probably tour again coming end of summer early fall. In the meantime Jack will be playing shows with some good friends of his. The band is called " Jack Grisham and the West Coast Dukes" they will be playing some Joykiller T.S.O.L and Gentleman Jack songs."
The band had fallen on difficult times in recent years due to a shooting that occurred while they were on stage in Hollywood in 2002. While T.S.O.L. was cleared in the court case they were left with a daunting bill from the attorney that prevented them from widespread touring. That period also resulted in the band's last album Divided We Stand.
T.S.O.L.'s 1981 gothic punk debut Dance With Me was recently reissued by Nitro Records. A retrospective release titled Who's Screwin' Who? surfaced in 2005.

Studio report from The Offspring
"Still working on the record over here. Most of the music is recorded and we're working on vocals now. We counted up the other day, we actually demo'd 23 songs for this CD. Wow! That's a new record for us. Of those we've recorded 13. Will they all be on the album? I don't know! We'll see how they turn out. Maybe we'll cut one, or maybe we'll write a couple more. Because we're artists we're flaky like that."
The band plans to play Japan in August, appearing at the Summer Sonic Festival on the 11th and 12th alongside bands like Sum 41, Avenged Sevenfold, Bloc Party, Interpol, and of course Cyndi Lauper.

Green Day working on three albums?
The band posted a brief note on Greenday.com explaining that they have starting writing material for their new album.
The post reads: "Billie, Mike and Tre are back from summer vacations working hard on new material for the next Green Day album. Stay tuned for more news next week."
As previously reported by NME.com in June, the band began working on dozens of ideas and demos for the new project, and have been calling the album "an event".
Billie Joe Armstrong told MTV: "At this point, to put a record out with like 12 songs on it and turn it in sounds a bit boring for us. So we want to definitely make something that is well thought out and (that) all of our blood is put into."

The 13th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death
He died in his Lake Washington home due to a shotgun blast to the head. He was 27 years old. On April 8, three days after preparing to kill himself, Cobain was discovered in the spare room above the garage (referred to as "the greenhouse") at his Lake Washington home by Veca Electric employee Gary Smith. Smith arrived at the house that morning to install security lighting and saw him lying inside. Apart from a minor amount of blood coming out of Cobain's ear, Smith reported seeing no visible signs of trauma, and initially believed that Cobain was asleep. Smith found what he thought might be a suicide note with a pen stuck through it beneath an overturned flowerpot. A shotgun, purchased for Cobain by Dylan Carlson, was found at Cobain's side. An autopsy report later concluded Cobain's death was a result of a "self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head." The report estimates Cobain to have died on April 5, 1994.
Cobain recorded three full-length albums and a number of EPs with Nirvana as well as a number of releases that surfaced posthumously. His band's sophomore album, 1991's Nevermind, made history by becoming the first grunge album to hit #1 on the Billboard charts, spawning hits such as "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Lithium", "Come as You Are" and "In Bloom". Not only did it popularize the grunge movement; it would also become one of the band's best selling albums of all time and consistently acclaimed as one of the greatest albums ever released.
Following Cobain's death, the two surviving members of Nirvana, Krist Novoselic (bass) and Dave Grohl (drums), later resurfaced in their own projects. Novoselic formed Sweet 75 and Eyes Adrift (with Meat Puppets singer Kurt Kirkwood) and Grohl formed Foo Fighters and also played in a number of projects as well as Queens of the Stone Age and PROBOT.

Suicidal Tendencies frontman talks about upcoming tour
"First, thanks to all the Aussies that came out and supported us for the Soundwave festival dates and our own shows in Melbourne and Perth. Also a big thanks to A.J. for bringing the band out and Darren and Metal for looking after us. We all hand a great time and look forward to going back as soon as possible. The people were great, the back felt good, and the trip was a great way to get back to being SUICIDAL! Also, I was fortunate enough to stay longer after the tour ended and I wanted to thank all the people in Perth, Fremantle and, of course, Sid and his family and all the crew from Margeret River that made us feel right at home and hooked us up with the Aussie barbeque and hospitality etc...and of the preview of the infamous sausage documentary.
The band is now looking forward to the France tour. We leave a week from Friday and look forward to seeing more of our friends. Doume (King of France) will be working merch and keeping everyone honest. Charly is back to drum tech and to find the Hungry Jacks in every city for Dave. We'll have a few new people with us too that we look forward to meeting and working with and all at Ter a Terre who booked the tour.
Ron Brunner will not be drumming on this tour as he and his wife are expecting there first child in the next two weeks. Congratulations to Ron and family, even if your bro beat you to the fatherhood parade :) Ron will be back with us this summer...which brings us to the next touring news...
ST is excited to finally be getting Cyco in Greece, Russia, and Turkey this summer. These are a few of the places that we've never played and are really looking forward to finally taking it to the STage in these countries.
We will post the tour dates shortly. There is also a number of festivals and other headlining dates. The band will start off with two dates in Greece May 25 and 26 then go to Prague, Czech Republic (28), Sofia, Bulgaria (29) and Istanbul, Turkey (30). Then off to Spain for a couple dates and Lorca Rock festival. Treviso and Milano Italy. London and the Donington Download festival. Finland Tavastia, and Hultsfred festival in Sweden. Moscow and ST. Petersburg. We end the tour in Holland at the Fields of Rock festival and the night before the band returns to the Markthalle in Hamburg, Germany. The tour is complete and we won't be adding any other dates due to other commitments.
As I said we are very excited to be playing several places the band has never been to, and of course there are still others that unfortunately we won't make it to this time...and sorry, Sven, we couldn't get the Croatian date, but hopefully all will continue to go well and there will be another time. Also, there several other things being discussed, sorted, debated etc, but we wait till they are confirmed, etc. Thanx for your patience.
Now next up France. Looking forward to seeing Lorenzo, Silvia and Paul again. I know a lot of the family is driving, flying, traveling to the Paris show so be sure and say what's up! to all the crew."
